→ Right-wing Opposition Promises 'Renewal' for Venezuela-Israel Relations

fuckyeahmarxismleninism:

Over the weekend, Venezuela’s anti-Chavez minority confirmed reports that one of their own recently met with right-wing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and promised to re-establish ties with Israel if the opposition is somehow successful in this year’s presidential election. Speaking on behalf of the opposition’s socalled Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD), Metropolitan Mayor of Caracas Antonio Ledezma is said to have promised both economic and political rewards in exchange for Israeli support of MUD presidential hopeful, Henrique Capriles Radonski.

Every black woman I spoke with who was/is an ardent moviegoer, a lover of the Hollywood film, testified that to experience fully the pleasure of that cinema they had to close down critique, analysis; they had to forget racism. And mostly they did not think about sexism.

→ Rebellion at for-profit prison in Mississippi

fuckyeahmarxismleninism:

(Reuters) - Inmates seized control of a privately owned prison in Mississippi on Sunday after riots broke out, and a guard was killed in the chaos in the low security facility, authorities said.

Adams County Coroner James Lee said the 23-year-old guard died of blunt trauma to the head during the riot at the Adams County Correctional Center, a privately owned prison that houses mostly illegal immigrants for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

“This is an ongoing riot that still has not been rectified because the prisoners are in still in charge of the prison,” Lee said, speaking at around 9 p.m. local time.

The disturbance in the 2,567-bed prison began on Sunday afternoon inside the facility in Natchez, Mississippi, the Corrections Corporation of America, which owns the prison, said in a statement.

Photographs of the scene showed white smoke lingering above the prison yard. The Natchez Democrat newspaper said a SWAT team was stationed outside the prison and, at one point, prisoners lit a fire.

“ASIANS BROUGHT IT ON THEMSELVES”

colorblinding:

Green Onion <too_tardy@gmail.com> (unregistered) wrote:

Where were Asians when California Indians had bounties placed on them (scalp collecting) and were being slaughtered to collect said bounties that were tabulated based on age and sex? Where were the majority of Asians when the Civil Rights era was in full swing with the majority of POC (Asians are not POC) participating? Why do a lot of Asians tout their own superiority in this racial hierarchy to degrade other non-Caucasian groups and revel in it as well as basking in the idea of the model minority, going so far as to present IQ scores as their model of achieving what other groups couldn’t (due to having a different history in the States)? Face it, Asians brought it on themselves and expect others to sympathize? ROFL

This uneducated racist douchebag just thought it was a smart idea to post this as a comment. Seeing as I am a contributor for an upcoming anthology and am unbelievably busy working on my entries, I don’t have time to write a comprehensive history of Asian cross-racial alliances within the United States.

Though here’s a few points to consider.

  • Asians did not really begin arriving in the United States until 1850. The group, predominately Chinese, largely could not speak English, and did not understand the political climate of the United States and immediately were targets from the beginning of hate crimes and legally institutionalized forms of segregation, exclusion, discrimination, etc.
  • Starting in 1854, a series of laws were passed that determined that Chinese were aliens in the country; could not become citizens due to being too “different”; had no rights to own land; could not testify in court; were taxed more than any other miners, black or white; could not marry outside of their race (an issue considering the fact that the Page Act of 1875 banned all Chinese women entrance into the country to prevent Chinese from procreation, which has been argued by many scholars as a form of genocide, creating the first bachelor society in the United States); were taxed based on the amount of air they were allowed to breathe in San Francisco; were driven out and forcibly deported; could not apply for business licenses; were taxed based on pole lengths (Chinese carried buckets and heavy packages on poles they held on their shoulders); were not allowed to vote; were segregated and forced into ghettos; were lynched and massacred by white folks on a regular basis; could not enter white-only establishments — so on and so forth. This culminated with the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, where NO Chinese were allowed entry into the United States. In 1917, the act expanded to include ALL of the “Asiatic races.”  It was not until 1942 that this was overturned, and only then it was with a very small quota of approximately 100 immigrants per year, compared with the thousands of immigrants from Europe and other parts of the world. This changed in the 1960s when the quotas were lifted.
  • During the infamous Plessy v. Ferguson case, which, if you do not know, means you know nothing at all about racial history and politics in the United States, Justice John Marshall Harlan argued against racial segregation only by invoking the “Oriental.” This is what he said: “There is a race so different from our own, that we do not permit those persons belonging to it to become citizens of the United States. Persons belonging to it are, with few exceptions, absolutely excluded from our country. I allude to the Chinese race.” And you were saying about Asians not being POC?
  • Japanese Internment. Concentration camps in the United States of all Japanese on the West Coast and in Hawaii. ‘nuff said.
  • There is a long and VERY RICH history of Afro-Asian solidarity that has been going on since the Bandung Conference of 1955. To the degree that figures such as Richard Wright, Malcolm X, W.E.B. Du Bois, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Huey Newton amongst others, have all spoken rather emphatically about the importance of Afro-Asian alliances that not only are generated domestically but also transnationally, as demonstrated by the way many black figures during this period romanticized Mao and China in general as a potential post-racial fantasy. (Du Bois, Newton, and Wright all spent time in China.) In response, Mao Zedong even issued two major proclamations supporting the Civil Rights Movement. Domestically, there has also been a very rich history that I am not going to bother to cover here in depth, seeing as you most likely don’t really care to learn anyway. Though if there’s a slight chance you might actually care to be blown away by history: Afro-Asia ed. Fred Ho and Bill Mullen; Afro Orientalism by Bill Mullen; Blacks and Asians ed. Hazel M. McFerson; Orientals by Robert Lee; Everybody Was Kung-Fu Fighting by Vijay Prashad; AfroAsian Encounters  Ed. Heike Raphael-Hernandez and Shannon Steen
  • Richard Aoki, one of the FOUNDING FIGURES OF, oh that’s right, just a small, completely unimportant organization known as the Black Panther Party. In fact, Bobby Seale credits Aoki for providing him with much of the philosophy that served as the foundation to the Party and for introducing him to Mao’s work. Oh gee, this just so happened to occur during the Civil Rights Movement. Or more appropriately, the Black Power Movement. (Disclaimer: I’m being sarcastic, guys, The Black Panther Party was a very important organization!) Not all Black Power Movement activists agreed with the idea of it being a Civil Rights Movement, but of course you wouldn’t have thought to learn more about the Movement before opening your mouth and saying some racist, ignorant bullshit.
  • Yuki Kochiyama, one of Malcolm X’s most trusted disciples to the degree that he literally died with his head in her lap. She also, during the Black Power Movement, worked feverishly to get prisoners released and was instrumental in the movement.
  • Grace Lee Boggs, another major Black Power activist who worked with Malcolm X and had even wanted him to run for president.
I could keep going but I don’t have time or the patience right now. Next time you want to be a racist douchebag, you might want to think twice about using your home computer, seeing as that sure is your IP address posted right there, along with your email address, for everyone to see. I might add that my blog is searchable by Google and anyone who does a search of your email will find this incredibly anti-Asian, racist comment you so thoughtfully decided to post on a blog with literally hundreds of followers.

i am now 350% sure white people care more about animal rights than they do racism.

cijithegeek:

atomsgirl:

I am proud to say I love animals more than humans. Which is a reason why I am a veterinary student and soon to be an owner of a rescue. PoC aren’t being ripped apart for their skin to be sold, PoC aren’t being slaughtered for food, PoC aren’t beaten, neglected, skinned alive, aren’t being forced to fight to the death for money at the hands of thugs, aren’t being thrown away to slaughter houses because they cannot perform, people do not poison your food so you’d die because you are a stray and unwanted. You are not forced into tight kennels and forced to give birth, over and over again. You cannot compare racism to ANIMAL CRUELTY. You aren’t being tested on, poked and prodded to see what happens to you in the next 15 minutes or for the rest of your life.

I have  seen cases where a dog was left outside with no food, no water, completely emaciated, with about 500 ticks on/in her ears, and the woman who owned her said “Oh I was planning on taking her to the vet next week” This dog didn’t end up like this over night, it broke my heart. The dog was positive for heart worm. So you see, you cannot compare racism to animal cruelty, it just makes you look like an idiot.

Educate yourself on animal cruelty before you speak.

I would also like to add that some animals are discriminated because of their breed, such as pitbulls. There are pitbull bans in some city/states, where they are illegal to own. You do not have to face that, but they do. All because of the sick humans, who breed, buy, sell, and fight these victims of violence.

Do you know what, fuck everything I said today about “white privelege.”

After enough research I’ve reverted to me original conclusion that the term “white privilege” essentially means that racism is all “whitey’s” fault and has nothing to do with evolutionary biology or tribal mentality and the only way to solve it is for “whitey” to feel shamed for his own race. And I think I now know how so many people got brainwashed into it. It’s from these ultra PC insane social justice slacktivist who will either bully and shame people into submission or trick people with deceptive and convoluted languages or other things. Do you know what? I get it, whites do get a lot of perks in western society but it’s not my fucking fault. My race is not something I can control and I can try to fight for the rights of others but you can’t expect me to go around feeling sorry for privilege that I never asked for and I can’t control. Let me ask you something, do you think that Muslim men are somehow culpable for all the oppression that Islamic extremists have done? Because that’s essentially the same thing you are suggesting, that I’m somehow culpable for the genocide of Native American’s and the enslavement of Africans just because I happen to be born white. Do you know what? You may have brainwashed everyone else but you with your bullshit but you will never brainwash me!

This!!!!! We refuse to apologize. We will NOT bow down like slaves because of what our ancestors did!! White people are being targeted everywhere and frankly we’re sick of it. You will not brainwash us into thinking we’re evil when we represent all that is good and holy in this world. Evolutionary biology puts some people ahead of others….. so what?? We should celebrate this instead of trying to repress it!

White people = good

PoC = bad

Most likely ricksantorum-2012 has argued that there’s good and bad in every race and that no one should be generalized.

“We represent all that is good and holy in this world” will turn into “DON’T GENERALIZE ALL WHITE PEOPLE! I’M NOT LIKE THAT!!” in about 45 seconds.

i dont understand

i can’t tell if this is poe’s law or some sort of super-evolved version of it.

The main reason for disfranchising Gullah is that its speakers are generally blacks, and it’s very easy to invoke lack of intelligibility to claim that they speak a separate language, whereas, because speakers of Appalachian English are whites, the same “judges” don’t want to disfranchise them that easily.

Here’s another example: If you take the variety of Jamaican English that is called Creole, people say it’s a separate language. But if you take a similar variety that has developed in Australia or New Zealand, nobody says that’s a separate language, although for the average American it’s very difficult to understand an average Australian or New Zealander vernacular speaker.

– Salikoko S. Mufwene, professor and chair of the department of linguistics at the University of Chicago, talking about the way in which English dialects that are perceived as ‘black’ are constantly disenfranchised by the majority who at the same time is reluctant to do the same to dialects that are perceived as ‘white’ even though these often are as different from Standard English as e.g. Gullah or Jamaican English. → Justice Department to Investigate Fatal Shooting of Unarmed Black Student in California

wakeupblackpower:

“Yourblackworld previously reported the shooting death of an unarmed black teen by Pasadena California police on March 24th. Policesay they mistook the 19 year old college student, Kendrec McDade, for a robber and believed he was reaching for a gun in his waistband when they opened fire.

Now police in Pasadena have asked the FBI to review the shooting death of McDade by two white officers who were responding to a 911 report of an armed robbery.

Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez said in a statement  Thursday on the department’s website he had asked the FBI to consider reviewing the shooting.

“The Federal Bureau of Investigation offers another independent level of review,” he said in the statement.”

Did he have a gun? Seriously-he looked like the robber? Do the details even matter, lynching at it’s best.
