Is the independent media movement’s flagship radio-TV show Democracy Now! pushing the State Department and Pentagon line on Libya instead of “going where the silence is” and telling the truth without fear or favor? Are its Libyan correspondents embedded with the US-backed Libyan rebels to such an extent that they have minimized and failed to follow up persistent reports of ethnic cleansing in Libya or investigate whether alleged “mercenaries” ever existed or Khadaffi’s “massacres” ever took place?

It was first reported in January of last year that the Obama administration had compiled a hit list of American citizens whom the President had ordered assassinated without any due process, and one of those Americans was Anwar al-Awlaki. No effort was made to indict him for any crimes (despite a report last October that the Obama administration was “considering” indicting him).
Despite substantial doubt among Yemen experts about whether he even has any operational role in Al Qaeda, no evidence (as opposed to unverified government accusations) was presented of his guilt. When Awlaki’s father sought a court order barring Obama from killing his son, the DOJ argued, among other things, that such decisions were “state secrets” and thus beyond the scrutiny of the courts. He was simply ordered killed by the President: his judge, jury and executioner.
When Awlaki’s inclusion on President Obama’s hit list was confirmed, The New York Times noted that “it is extremely rare, if not unprecedented, for an American to be approved for targeted killing.”
After several unsuccessful efforts to assassinate its own citizen, the U.S. succeeded today (and it was the U.S.). It almost certainly was able to find and kill Awlaki with the help of its long-time close friend President Saleh, who took a little time off from murdering his own citizens to help the U.S. murder its. The U.S. thus transformed someone who was, at best, a marginal figure into a martyr, and again showed its true face to the world. The government and media search for The Next bin Laden has undoubtedly already commenced.

Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) — The United States is contemplating deploying “Global Hawk” in south Korea. This drone equipped with infrared camera, radar set and detectaphone is capable of flying 40 hours at the altitude of 20 000m and discerning even a material with the size of 30 cm.
The above-said U.S. move is a clear indication of its anachronistic hostile policy towards the DPRK and war hysteria.
The commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea bragged the projected deployment of “Global Hawk” is aimed to monitor the military moves of the DPRK including its ballistic missile launch. The U.S. National Reconnaissance Office launched six spy satellites in the last seven months. The U.S. warlike forces’ move to deploy the above-said drone in south Korea glaringly proves how frantically they are working to round off the preparations for another Korean war.
What should not go unnoticed is that the U.S. planned introduction of such drone to south Korea is not targeted against the DPRK only. Military experts observe “Global Hawk” is capable of conducting espionage not only against the DPRK but Northeast China and other regions. The deployment of such type drone is designed to spy not only on the military potentials of the DPRK but of its neighboring countries, they added.

The United States and the corporate media would have you believe that President Obama and the U.S. corporate media are celebrating the triumph of a “revolution” in Libya. But there was no revolution. Revolutionaries’ – African revolutionaries – do not name their fighting units ‘the Brigade for Purging Slaves, Black Skin.’
And they have not yet triumphed. The armed conflict in Libya has been an imperial project from the very beginning, and the people know it. Obama is working from an old playbook, deploying Islamists to wage war against non-compliant secular regimes and movements in the Muslim world.

What does this mean?
Everyone knew Troy Davis was innocent.
In front of the whole world, the U.S. ruling class has sent a message to the progressive movement, to poor and working people, and especially to people of color:
“It doesn’t matter what you did. It doesn’t matter if you did nothing at…

(AP) WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is refusing to weigh in on the pending execution in Georgia of inmate Troy Davis.
Less than half-hour before Davis’ scheduled execution Wednesday, White House press secretary Jay Carney issued a statement saying that Obama has long worked to ensure accuracy and fairness in the criminal justice system especially in capital cases. But Carney said it would not be appropriate for the president of the United States to weigh in on specific cases like this one, which is a state prosecution.
Davis was convicted of killing off-duty police officer Mark MacPhail in 1989. His attorneys say key witnesses against him have disputed their testimony. But courts have ruled against granting him a new trial.
Davis appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court Wednesday evening.

The U.S. military has spent about $1 billion so far and played a far larger role in Libya than it has acknowledged, quietly implementing an emerging “covert intervention” strategy that the Obama administration hopes will let America fight small wars with a barely detectable footprint.
